Guru Kaur from London says:
While I was living in Anandpur Sahib in late 1998/1999, these elephants came with the Nihangs there for a mela (gathering). We had a wonderful afternoon together and they got me to ride on them. In 2006 I took a group from London on a Holy Days tour of Northern India. We arrived first in Amritsar and went to bow at the Golden Temple. That afternoon, Dalbir, who was travelling with us, took us to scope out a mela of Nihangs in Amritsar. On the way, Hari Karam said to me "this is really great, but what I really want is to see an elephant in India". My heart was heavy because I know that elephants are not native to Punjab. A few minutes later Hari Karam said "look, there're some elephants." It was a grand reunion.
