The shrine of Shah-i-Hamdan: Srinager, Kashmir

Sha-i-Hamdan arrived in Kashmir from Persia in the 13th Century to preach Islam. His shrine on the bank of the river Jhelum in the old part of Srinager marks the place where he used to offer prayers to the faithful. The shrine is considered to be one of the holiest and revered sites in kashmir. Women and non Muslims are not allowed into the sanctuary. Here two women offer their prayers at the entrance to the shrine which is ornately decorated in traditional Kashmiri style.
