Baba Bidi Chand Dal on the move: near Mudki, Punjab
Mudki was the site of the first battle between the Khalsa army and the British East India Company forces, led by Sir Hugh Gough in the campaign known as the Anglo Sikh War. Fighting the first and only modern war in India, the Khalsa army matched the British in discipline, training and weaponry. In as much, the Sikhs posed the last and most formidable challenge to the Company's monopoly of military power.
