Saffron Harvest in Kashmir
Saffron, the most royal of spices, is harvested by hand on family plots which go back generations. It is becoming scarcer because there is less and less rainfall over recent years and also because people are selling their land for housing. The rich aroma of saffron intensifies during the harvest days as the piles of plucked crocus petals grow throughout the day.
